“استمراراً للمشروع الفكري الذي يتبنَّاه المترجم الأستاذ الدكتور محمد عبد العاطي في نقل كل ما هو مهم بالعثمانية إلى العربية بقدر طاقته وقدرته، يُترجم لنا كتاب ” مرآة الظرفاء: التاريخ والمؤرخون العثمانيون” للقاضي قارصلى زاده جمال الدين، والكتاب كُتب بأمر من السلطان عبد المحيد؛ مما يُعطي لنا دلالة على أهمية ومركزية التاريخ عند السلاطين العثمانيين. وهو عن آثار المؤرخين العثمانيين وقد كُتب بالطريقة الدَّارجة في الكتابات في تلك الفترة حيث تكثر المحسنات البديعية، والصور البيانية، والألفاظ العربية والفارسية، وتبدو أنَّ ثمة مشقة واجهت المؤلف في تجميع هذه المادة التاريخية؛ فهو يقول في بداية الكتاب أنَّه في بعض الأحيان لم يجد نسخة مخطوطة أو أثرًا لمؤلف باللغة التركية، ومن ثم انتخب الآثار المتداولة بين أيدي الناس.
