يتناول المؤلفون بداية تنظيم «القاعدة» ويصفونها بانها ولدت من رحم الجهاد الأفغاني، وبالتالي فأهدافها أهداف أفغانية في المقام الأول وهو ما تولد عنه تحالف قوي بين «القاعدة» وحركة طالبان التي ما لبثت ان سيطرت على 90% من أراضي أفغانستان، ويقسم المؤلفون تاريخ تنظيم «القاعدة» الى مرحلتين : الأولى من قبل سيطرة حركة طالبان على الحكم في أفغانستان الى تاريخ الاعلان عن قيام الجبهة العالمية لقتال اليهود والصليبيين والاميركيين .والمرحلة الثانية من اعلان الجبهة حتى الآن حيث تبلورت أهداف هذه المرحلة في ارغام أميركا على الانصياع لمطالب «القاعدة» سواء في الخليج أو الشيشان أو كشمير أو داغستان أو فلسطين .ويعتقد قادة الجماعة الاسلامية، وبعد دراسة طويلة للاستراتيجية الاميركية في التعامل مع قضايا العالم الاسلامي، سوف نوردها في الحلقات المقبلة، ان الاستراتيجية الأميركية تجاه أفغانستان، خاصة في مطلع تسعينات القرن الماضي لم تكن تبرر تبني «القاعدة» لاستراتيجيتها على النحو الذي اعتمدته، بل انهم ـ قادة «القاعدة» ـ أقحموا الأمة الاسلامية في صراع لا طاقة لها به، ولا رغبة لها فيه .كما يناقش الكتاب أيضا الخلل في فهم تنظيم «القاعدة»للجهاد عبر أربع زوايا: مغزى الجهاد، الجهاد فريضة من فرائض الاسلام، الجهاد وسيلة لا غاية، الجهاد وسيلة من وسائل كثيرة لرفع راية الاسلام . ويفند المؤلفون استدلالات زعماء «القاعدة» الخاطئة في تبرير تفجيراتهم من احداث 11 سبتمبر حتى احداث الرياض 2003, حتى يصلوا الى حقيقة مؤداها ان أغلب الضحايا في التفجيرات كانوا من المسلمين أو من جنسيات أخرى غير مستهدفة وهو ما نجم عنه ان اصبحت هذه الدول التي تمت فيها التفجيرات متكتلة ومتحدة ضد الحركات الاسلامية بشكل عام، وليس «القاعدة» فقط . واذا كان الجميع يدين هذه العمليات ومنفذيها فان مؤلفي كتاب استراتيجية وتفجيرات «القاعدة» يرون ان هذه التفجيرات أراد بها منفذوها خيرا لكن لم يدركوه، وأرادوا بها مصلحة ولكن لم يحصدوها .
