يعقد الكاتب مقارنة بين زمن إدريس السنوسي وزمن معمر القذافي ، بداية بمعرفة من أوصل كلا مهما لحكم ليبيا ، وما حدث في العهد الملكي من فساد يعرفه الخاص والعام بمن فيهم الملك ، الذي عبر عن ذلك صراحة في بيان صادر عن القصر الملكي ، ما جعل أمر تغيير النظام برمته أمرا حتما ، وحدث ذلك التغيير على يد حركة الضباط الوحوديين الأحرار ، كما أن إباحة المحرمات كالخمر والزنا في العهد الملكي تجعل التغيير واجبا شرعيا عل من يقدر عليه ، وهكذا وصلت الحركة لحكم البلاد بمساعدة المخابرات المصرية ، وتفاصيل ذلك عن ضابط مصري كبير كلفه الرئيس عبد الناصر بمساعدة الحكام الجدد في ليبيا ، وهو اللواء فتحي الذيب .
ومعلوم أن ذلك حدث في زمن الحرب الباردة ، وكان الحكام الجدد يسيرون في اتجاه مضاد لسياسة الغرب ، ما جعلهم يدخلون في صراع انتهى بعد انتهاء زمن الحرب الباردة بتغيير نظام الحكم مرة أخرى .
