تتحدث الرواية عن مقتل دكتور ألمانى الجنسية،ينتَمِي إِلَى طائِفَةِ سرِّيّة وقد جاءَ من بلاده ومعه حقيبة لا أحد يعلم عن محتواها شئ ،تسرق الحقيبة ويتم قتله ، تَتوَرطَ زوجة صديقه المصرى فى قتله فيدفعها القدر نحو ممثلة مشهورة سابقاً وقد تم أختيارها لتمثل السفارة المصرية داخل دولة ألمانيا بعد أعتزالها التمثيل فتقرر مساعدتها في مقابل أن تكشف لها سرا خطير يهمها لنتفاجئ من خلال الأحداث ب ثمانى أشخاص لديهم الدافع القوى فى قتله وسرقة الحقيبة ،كما تتحدث عن ذكاء وتكهن إحدى ضباط القوات الخاصة وكيف ساقه القدر بغرابة نحو تلك الجريمة ليكون هو المحقق فيها ،الرواية مليئة بالأحداث المشوقة والغموض،كما ناقشت من خلالها كثيراً من المواضيع الهامة مثل الميسوجينية فى أبشع صورها وفلسفة الموت بشكل بسيط والإرهاب الدينى و فوبيا الخوف وغيرهما ...تركتُ لغز مقتل دكتور جيفري للجمهور وهناك جائزة مالية يَحْظُو بها خمسة من بارعين الذكاء الِّلَّذِينَ يكشفون عن الشخصية القاتلة .
