للحركة المسيحية الأصولية الأمريكية جذوراً متأصلة فى التاريخ الأوربى قبل ظهورها بأمريكا فى بداية القرن العشرين وهذه الحركة ترتكز علي عقيدة أصولية تمثلت فى العصمة الحرفية للكتاب المقدس ، فسرت الإنجيل تفسيراً حرفياً ، عقيدة تحول فيها اليهود من أعداء الله والمسيح إلى شعب الله المبارك ، عقيدة أكدت على ضرورة عودة اليهود إلى أرض فلسطين ، وبناء الهيكل مكان المسجد الأقصى ، ووقوع معركة هرمجدون ؛ كمقدمة لعودة المسيح ، وبزوغ فجر العصرالألفى السعيد . وكانت البداية الحقيقية لهذه الحركة الأصولية فى الأربعينيات من القرن العشرين من خلال مؤسسات وشخصيات كان لها الأثر الكبير فى نقطة الانطلاق لهذه الحركة . وأخذت هذه الحركة فى الانطلاق حتى برزت بروزاً حقيقياً منظماً فى السبعينات من القرن العشرين ، واشتدت شوكتها فى العقود الثلاثة الأخيرة ، وبدأت فى تحقيق أهدافها والتى تتفق مع أهداف الصهيونية ، والتى لها الخطر الكبير على الإسلام والمسلمين وعلى العالم بأسره .
