تحدث العهد القديم عن حكمة سليمان في أكثر من سفر من الأسفار المقدسة ، والتي وصفتها بأنها فاقت حكمة أهل الشرق جميعاً، ولكنها أغفلت أنه صاحب عقيدة ودعوة ، وأنه استخدم حكمته في دعوة أهل زمانه إلى الايمان بالله الواحد الأحد ، كما تحدث عنها القرآن الكريم.
ومن هنا جاءت أهمية هذا الكتاب ؛ لبيان الفرق بين حكمة سليمان في العهد القديم ، وحكمته في القرآن الكريم .
والغاية من هذا الكتاب ،عرض حكمة سليمان في العهد القديم ،والقرآن الكريم ،والمقارنة بينهما، وبيان أن هذه الحكمة مصدرها الوحي الإلهي وليست حكمة أرضية مصدرها الشخص نفسه ، ورَدُّ ما يناقض هذه الحكمة ؛ مما أثاره كُتَّاب العهد القديم حول سليمان.
