لم تكن مجرد نظرة إعجاب تبادلها طرفان، بل كانت قدراً ساق عين تبحث لصاحبها عن فتاة أحلامه، أن تلقي بسهام النظرات على الفتيات المرشحين له من طرف والدته لزواج، لتخترق بسهامها قلبان لأختان غير شقيقتان.
يتقدم الشاب بطلب عرض الزواج لأحداهم فتثور نيران الحقد والغيرة في نفس من لم يقع عليها الاختيار. فيكون منها السؤال: "لماذا حظيت أختي منه بنظرة إعجاب ولم أحظى أنا بذات النظرة؟ هل بدت له أجمل أم بدت له أفضل؟" فينشب صراعا تلتحتم فيه الأحداث حينما تسعى جاهدة أن تثأر لكبرياء أنوثتها الذي امتهان، بأن تسقط نظرة إعجابه بأختها، لتحظى هي بها حتى تصيب قلبه بسهام الندم كونه لها لم يختار، فتفعل فعلاً يكلفها ثمن غاليًا حينما يقودها لمفترق خيارين: إما أن تخسر كل شئ وتكسب ذاتها، أو تكسب كل شئ وترمي بذاتها في نفق مظلم.
