روايةٌ تُحاكِي ممارسات تحدث بمجتمع منغلق على أفراده في إحدى أقاليم جمهورية مصر العربية،
الرواية صراعٌ ثلاثي الجبهات؛ بين الماضي المتمثل في الجلاد وهو الوجه المظلم للبادية، والحاضر مشمول في البطلة المدعومة من الجياد، وهم عدد محدود اعترف بأحقية الفرد في اختيار حياته، والمستقبل وهو حلمها في حياة كريمة تهبها لمن يستحق، يظهر الصراع طوال الرواية من خلال حرب انتصرت فيها البطلة عندما خسرت، في إطار اجتماعي لم يخلُ من التشويق.
الرواية اجتماعية بعض أحداثها حقيقية، بها لمحة تاريخية ذكرت فيها الكاتبة موقعة "وادي ماجد" التي تحالف فيها الجيش المصري والعثماني مع بدو مصر وجمهورية ليبيا في مواجهة المحتل البريطاني، وقد تم ذكر أحداث الموقعة كاملة بالرواية.
تزخر الرواية بكمٍّ هائلٍ من العادات البدوية، مع التوضيح بمعانيها؛ فللبدو أسماء خاصة بخيولهم، وملابسهم، وأطعمتهم، وعاداتهم اليومية مختلفة عن الحضر، ذكرها بما يتماشى مع الأحداث جعل من يقرأ الرواية يشعر وكأنه زار محافظة مرسى مطروح وعاش بين قبائلها وشاركهم حياتهم.
الرواية حظت على دعم ملحوظ من بعض القيادات البدوية وتأييد من عقليات تتمنى التغيير من أجل الصالح العام، كما رفضها البعض واستنكروا خوض الكاتبة في ما هو ممنوع الحديث عنه، وكان جوابها واضحًا"الرواية تحاكي واقع لا يمكن التغاضي عنه، حق لا يمكن السكوت عنه، الرواية تعطي البادية حقها، وتظهر الظلم الواقع على البدوية"
