إنّ للخوف عتَبات كعتبات الألم تختلف بين شخص وآخر ، والخوف ظاهرة طبيعية تدل على الوعي ، ويكتسبها المرء تدريجياً عند البلوغ ، فالطفل الرضيع مثلاً لا يخاف الأفعى ، وقد يعتبرها شريطاً لمّاعاً ملوّناً !
