اقترب المعلم من طاولتي وقال لي : اقرأ ، ووضع عصا الزيتون فوق قراءتي ، بدأت القراءة : كتب كريم م م م كريمُ ، كَتَبَت مَرْيَم مَ مَ مَ مَرْيَمُ توقفت عن القراءة عندما توجه المعلم نحو التلميذة الجالسة أمامي ، وطلب منها القراءة . احمر وجهها وتلعثم لسانها . . بدأت أفكر في كريم ومريم ، كيف هو شكلهما ؟ وهل أبوهما شخصية نافذة ليذكر اسمهما فقط في تلك القراءة ؟ قلت في نفسي : ربما والدهما هو من سهر على إعداد تلك القراءة ، لهذا جعل أسماء أبنائه أولوية فيها . أعادني المعلم لواقعي بضربه طاولتي بعصاه ، لم أنتبه لما دار بينه وبين التلميذة ، لأنني كنت أفكر في كريم ومريم . قررت الانتباه كما أوصتني أمي ، وبدأت أستمع للمعلم .
