تنطلق الباحثة من فكرة أن الأدب والنقد مرآتان متوازيتان- متقابلتان، لا تصحّ إحداهما من غير وجود الأخرى، فالنصّ الأدبيّ نصّ إبداعيّ، والنصّ النقديّ نصّ علميّ يعتمد على المصطلح، إنهما طرفان متضادان، وهذا التضاد مدعاة للتكامل، فالعلاقة بين الأدب والنقد علاقة توازٍ، وباجتماعهما نصل إلى التكامل.
ووقع الاختيار من النصوص الأدبية القديمة على ما يمثّل محطات مهمة في تاريخ الشعرية والسردية في الأدب العربي، وتمت معالجة كلّ نص على وفق محورين:
-المصطلح النقدي المعاصر الذي يطبَّق على النصوص الأدبية القديمة بهدف الكشف عن أنساقها، وجمالياتها.
-النص الأدبي التراثي الذي يثبت قدرة النص التراثي على الانفتاح على أدوات النقد المعاصر.
والجديد في هذه الدراسة تطبيقها مصطلحات حديثة على النص التراثي، فلا توجد دراسة تحدثت عن "ما وراء السرد"، أو المونتاج الشعري، أو الحوار بمفهومه الحديث في التراث العربي.
