الأمن الصناعي (السلامة) بالتعريف هو: فرع من فروع المعرفة، يهتم بتحقيق مجموعة من التدابير والإجراءات الوقائية، التي تتخذ لحماية العمال والعاملين في محيط المنشأة الصناعية من الإصابة الطارئة غير المتوقعة التي تحدث بصورة مباشرة، اثناء تأدية العمل، أو بسبب مواد العمل، أو أدواته، أو بسبب جهل العامل وإهماله.
يساعد هذا الكتاب في نشر الفكر الوقائي من أخطار العمل والإصابات في المنشآت الصناعية، ويزود المهندسين بالمعرفة اللازمة، انطلاقاً من دورهم الهام في تلك المنشآت. فالكتاب يقدم المبادىء والقواعد الأساسية للأمن الصناعي لحماية العاملين من أخطار العمل.
يتألف الكتاب من سبعة عشر فصلاً تتناول مواضيع مختلفة قسّمت إلى مجموعات أساسية هي: مواضيع تتعلق بمفهوم وأهمية الأمن الصناعي، والعوامل المؤثرة على الحوادث وإصابات العمل، ومواضيع تتعلق بالأمن الصناعي ذات الطابع الزراعي والغذائي ذلك أن هذا الكتاب - موجه إلى طلاب الجامعات في (قسم ميكانيك الآلات الزراعية) ومواضيع تتعلق بالأمن الصناعي في المنشآت الإنتاجية، ومواضيع تتعلق بالعلوم الحديثة التي لها علاقة بالأمن الصناعي والغذائي والبيئي. وقد أولى المؤلف عناية خاصة بالمادة المدروسة عن طريق الإكثار من الصور التوضيحية والرسوم المناسبة التي تم أخذها من كتالوكات الشركات الأجنبية المصنعة للآلات والتجهيزات الصناعية والزراعية ومعدات الوقاية الشخصية.
