يعنى هذا الكتاب بدراسة المحاكم الجنائية الدولية، بدءاً من المحاكمات التي تلت الحرب العالمية الثانية، مروراً بالمحاكم الجنائية الدولية ليوغوسلافيا السابقة وروندا، وصولاً إلى المحكمة الجنائية الدولية الدائمة المنشأة بموجب إتفاقية روما للعام 1998. بحيث تضمنت الدراسة الظروف المحيطة بإنشاء كل من هذه المحاكم، ونظامها الأساسي، والأحكام والإجتهادات الصادرة عنها. كل ذلك في إطار تحليلي يبرز دورها في تطور المفاهيم المتعلقة بالجريمة الدولية، لا سيما جرائم الحرب والجرائم ضد الإنسانية وجريمة الإبادة وجريمة العدوان.
يشكل هذا الكتاب إضافة متواضعة للمكتبة القانونية العربية، التي لا زال ينقصها الكثير من المؤلفات والدراسات التي تُعنى بالقانون الجنائي الدولي والمحاكم الجنائية الدولية، بالرغم من التطور الكبير والمتسارع الذي يناله هذا القانون عالمياً على صعيد الفقه والإجتهاد والممارسة.
