في إحدى الجزر النائية من عرض البحر، عاشت أميرة جميلة اسمها "سامينا"، كانت طيبة القلب ومحبوبة من شعب جزيرتها. وكان للأميرة قرد صغير اسمه "مرمور" ربته سامينا على الدلال والطاعة... يرافقها حيث توجهت ويسليها بحركاته وعبثه، وعاشت الساحرة "كرنيبا" في جزيرة سوداء قريبة من جزيرة الأميرة. كانت "كرنيبا" تغار من جمال "سامينا" ومن حب السكان لأميرتهم، فقررت أن تمنعها من مغادرة الجزيرة، وحكمت عليها بالبقاء والعيش على سطح الجزيرة وهددتها بالموت إن حاولت الهرب، وقامت الساحرة الشريرة بتحويل سمكة كبيرة إلى وحش كبيرـ يتطاير الشرر من عينيه وتنساب ألسنة النار بين شفتيه... وزرعته في أعماق البحر ينتظر إشارتها لينقض على الأميرة إذا حاولت الهرب من الجزيرة، هكذا عاشت الأميرة زمناً طويلاً في أسرها محرومة من الأبحار، إلى أن أتى يوم ألقت فيه الأمواج جثة شاب على الرمال منهوك القوى، وكان هذا الشاب هو باب الخلاص بالنسبة للأميرة، وهو من سيساعدها على حاجز الخوف الذي زرعته الساحرة الشريرة. تفاصيل هذه المغامرة المشوقة هو ما سيقرأه الطفل في هذا الكتاب المصور "سامينا والبحّار".
