ليس ثمة من شك في أن نشاط المرأة الأدبي والنقدي بات يفرض نفسه في عالم الأدب والنقد على السواء، يشهد لها بذلك إنتاجها الأدبي الذي تزخر به المكتبة العربية في فنون الأدب المختلفة، فكان منهنّ الشاعرات والروائيات والقاصّات والناقدات، وكان منهنّ الكاتبات في سائر المعارف والأنشطة الإنسانية المتعددة.
وقد بلغن من الحذق والإقتدار في الكتابة والتأليف ما قد بلغه المبدعون والمصنفون من الرجال، فأثبتن بذلك أنّ الحياة الأدبية ليست وقفاً على الرجال وحدهم، إذ لا فرق بين الرجل والمرأة في الموهبة والمكتسب، وليس هناك من سبب يدعو إلى إنكار هذه الحقيقة أو الشكّ فيها.
وعلى هذا الأساس يمكن أن نفهم إهتمام الدارسين المعاصرين بأدب المرأة ونقده، وتزايد هذا الإهتمام يوماً بعد يوم، لقد غدا هذا الأدب ونقده محل عنايتهم، يتناولونه بالإستقصاء والكشف، والبحث والتحليل، والنقد والتوجيه، لإستكشاف أبعاده وإستبصار معالمه وآفاقه، وتلمس المستوى الرفيع الذي توصلت إليه المرأة في وعيها بدورها في مسيرة الحضارة الإنسانية عامة والحركة الثقافية والأدبية والنقدية خاصة.
ومن هنا، فقد تأصّل لدى قناعة مؤداها أن أدب المرأة ونقدها فيه من الثراء والغنى ما يجعله قيمناً بالدراسة والبحث، وأنّ ما قد تناوله الدارسون منه ما يزال قليلاً إنْ قورن بما يمثاله مما يخصّ أدب الرجل ونقده.
ولقد تناولت في هذا الكتاب النقد الأدبي الحديث عند المرأة، نقد الشعر، وفي تصوري فإنّ دراسة هذا الموضوع لا تتم إلاّ بدراسة جوانب ثلاثة، استقل كل جانب منها بفصل: الأول مفهوم الشعر، والثاني وظيفة الشعر، والثالث أداة الشعر.
على أن يسبق هذه الجوانب كما في تصوري - أيضاً - تمهيد وأن تتلوها خاتمة، أمّا التمهيد فقد توقفت فيه عند المرأة ونقدها للشعر في التراث النقدي والبلاغي، وأمّا الخاتمة ففيها صفوة ما قد أنجزته من قبل، وما يترتب على ذلك من ملاحظات، وارتأيت أن ينتهي هذا الكتاب بملحق يتضمن المصادر الأساسية لهذه الدراسة وكذلك وصف ببليوجرافي لنقد الشعر عند المرأة في العصر الحديث غير تلك المصادر التي اعتمدت عليها.
