إن الشريعة الإسلامية اهتمت بالمال، لما لهُ من مكانة في نفس الإنسان، لذا وضعت الشريعة الإسلامية أصْلح الطرق الممكنة لكسب المال وإنفاقه، وأوْجه تنميته وفق الأصول والمبادئ الإسلامية.
لهذا وغيره كانت الحاجة ماسة إلى معرفة النظام الإقتصادي الإسلامي، خاصة بعد الصحوة الإسلامية التي تدعو إلى أهمية وضرورة تطبيق النظام المالي والإقتصادي الإسلامي في هذا العصر، بعد ثبوت فشل التطبيقات الرأسمالية والإشتراكية في تحقيق التنمية والتقدم الإقتصادي لدول العالم العربي والإسلامي.
ورغم أن موضوعات هذا الكتاب متشعّبة الجوانب، كثيرة الفروع، وكل منها يحتاج إلى مؤلف مستقل إلا أن المؤلف عالم موضوع الدراسة بإيجاز غير مُخِلّ، لذلك كانت تسمية الكتاب بــ"مبادئ النظام الإقتصادي في الإسلام".
وقد قسم الكتاب إلى مقدمة، وثمانية فصول، على النحو التالي: الفصل الأول: "التعريف بالإقتصاد الإسلامي ونشأته وأهميته"، الفصل الثاني: "خصائص الإقتصاد الإسلامي وأهدافه"، الفصل الثالث: "الملكية في الإسلام"، الفصل الرابع: "موقف الإسلام من الحرية الإقتصادية المقيدة وتطبيقاتها"، الفصل الخامس: "العولمة الإقتصادية "أهدافها وموقف الإسلام منها"، الفصل السادس: "تحليل دعائم الإقتصاد الإسلامي (الإنتاج، والتوزيع والإستهلاك)"، الفصل السابع: "المعالجة الإسلامية للمشكلة الإقتصادية"، الفصل الثامن: "السياسة الإقتصادية الشرعية في العقود والمعاملات".
