سأطرح هذا السؤال مع بداية هذه الدراسة، هل يجوز للمسلمين عقد المعاهدات والإتفاقات؟؟ لن اجيب على هذا السؤال من ناحية شرعية، فسأتركه للمختصين في هذا المجال، ولكن الذي جلب إنتباهي كمؤرخ، أن المسلمين عقدوا العديد من الإتفاقات والمعاهدات منذ فجر الإسلام، نشهد ذلك في الحجاز، ومن ثم في بلاد الشام أثناء الفتوحات العربية الإسلامية، ثم فيما بعد في إصقاع عديدة من العالم، ومع أمم وشعوب شتى.
والملاحظ أن العديد من هذه المعاهدات والإتفاقات قد عقدها العرب المسلمون من منطلق قوة، كانوا هم الأقوياء وأعداؤهم الأضعف، إلا أن الأمر تغير فيما بعد وخصوصاً في فترة الغزو الفرنجي (الصليبي) لبلاد الشام؛ وستركز هذه الدراسة على التسلسل التاريخي لهذه المعاهدات والإتفاقات، مع تحليل للظروف التي أدت إلى إبرامها في مرحلة من أحلك المراحل التي مرت بها أمتنا العربية، تمزقاً وتفتتاً وإنحلالاً وضياعاً، مع تغييب للهوية العربية ومصادرة الشخصية العربية وقتلها، حتى أن الأمة بلغت حالة من اليأس والخور والخذلان لأحد لها.
وقد قسمت هذه الدراسة إلى أربعة فصول، فالأول عن المعاهدات والإتفاقات بين المسلمين والفرنج مع بدايات الإحتلال الفرنجي لبلاد الشام، أما الثاني فبحث في معاهدات المسلمين والفرنج بعد صلح الرملة حتى قيام الدولة المملوكية، وكان الفصل الثالث عن معاهدات المسلمين والفرنج في العصر المملوكي حتى تحرير عكا؛ وتناول الفصل الرابع دراسة لبعض نصوص تلك المعاهدات وأهم ما تطرقت إليه، وأنهيت كل فصل بدراسة تحليلية لهذه المعاهدات والإتفاقات والظروف التي أحاطت بها.
