يعد المنهج التأثري من أكثر المناهج النقدية إستعمالاً وإستخداماً في النقد الأدبي قديمه وحديثه، ومع ذلك لم ينل حظاً من الدراسة والبحث، سواء من حيث التأريخ له أو من حيث التأصيل والكشف عن مبادئه وأسسه وعوامل ظهوره، وأقطابه من القدماء والمحدثين.
ولذلك حاولت في هذا الكتاب أن أميط اللئام عن بعض جوانبه العامة من خلال الناقد العربي محمد مندوب.
وقد نظرت في نقدنا العربي الحديث فوجدت مؤلفات الدكتور محمد مندور تكتسي طابعاً تأثرياً أكثر من مؤلفات غيره من النقاد، فأثرت أن يكون تطبيقي لهذا المنهج عن مؤلفاته النقدية.
وإذا كانت هناك بحوث ووسائل جامعية حول آراء محمد مندور النقدية، ونظرته للشعر "كأصول النقد المسرحي" و"نظرية الشعر" و"تطور آرائه النقدية" فإنها لم تمس الجانب التأثري من نقده رغم إحتلاله حيزاً أكبر من مؤلفاته النقدية.
ومن هنا، أثرت أن يكون موضوع هذا الكتاب "التأثرية والنقد التأثري عند محمد مندور"، وكما هو أوضح من العنوان، فإنني قسَّمت الكتاب إلى تمهيد وبابين: تحدَّثت في التمهيد عن "التأثرية" بصفة عامة، وقد حاولت أن أبحث عن معناها وأصولها في النقد الفرنسي أولاً، لأنها ظهرت أول مرة في فرنسا.
أما الباب الأول فقد خصص المؤلف لمندور ونقده التأثري، وأما الباب الثاني من الكتاب، فقد اشتمل على فصول ثلاثة، تحدثت في الفصل الأول عن مفهوم "التأثرية" عند مندور وكيف طبَّقها في ميادين الشعر والقصة والمسرحية، أما الفصل الثاني فقد خصصته لمعاركه النقدية التي كان لها الدور الكبير في ترسيخ منهجه التأثري وتوضيحه وتطوير؛ وأما الفصل الثالث فقد حاولت أن أبرز فيه منهجه في الأدب والنقد، ودور الناقد تجاه الأدب والأديب، والشروط التي يجب أن تتوفر في الناقد.
