تحت عنوان "آثار وبركات دعاء العهد" يستدعي السيد حسين نجيب محمد كافة الأحاديث الواردة عن النبي (ص) وآله بيته عليهم السلام حول الإمام المهدي للقول أن إمام هذا الزمن هو "محمد بن الحسن" وهو المعروف بـ "الإمام المهدي" عليه السلام، فقد قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "يخرج المهدي وعلى رأسه غمامة فيها ملك ينادي: هذا خليفة الله المهدي فاتبعوه".
إنطلاقاً من هذه العقيدة الإيمانية يوضح المؤلف ما ينبغي للمسلم العمل به لتجديد البيعة؛ ومن هنا ورد في الكتاب "دعاء العهد" الذي يعني بالنسبة للمؤلف التجديد بالبيعة للإمام، حيث يورد - في الكتاب - النص الكامل للدعاء وكيفية المبايعة والأدعية المتضمنة لعبارات البيعة، وجدول البرنامج الأربعيني لدعاء العهد وتوجيهات العلماء للمواظبة على دعاء العهد، وقصص واقعية عن فوائد الدعاء ومسائل أخرى ذات صلة.
