كتب "المبارك بن موهوب" رسائله هذه التي يضمّها هذا الكتاب في أواخر القرن السادس وأوائل القرن السابع الهجريين. وهي نموذج جيد للنثر في العراق في المدة المذكورة. فيها معلومات تاريخية ذات أهمية في إيضاح كثير من العلاقات والمكاتبات التي كانت بين مملكة إربل والخليفة العباسي الناصر لدين الله، وما كتبه إلى الأطراف حين خلع الناصر لدين الله ولي عهده الأمير محمد. كذلك تكشف هذه الرسائل لوناًَ لما كان يكتبه على لسان نواب مظفر الدين كوكبوري جواباً على رسالة صاحب إربل. ولأهمية هذه الرسائل من الناحية الأدبية والتاريخية عني الأستاذ هلال ناجي بتحقيقها على مخطوطة نادرة كتبت سنة 707هـ.
