رغم طرافة الموضوع وجدته فإنه يعد مدخلاً لفهم وتفسير تكوين شخصية المجرم ونشأة سلوكه من خلال دراسات تحليلية نفسية يقوم بها علماء متخصصون. والنصب أو الاحتيال ليس مجرد ظاهرة شاذة في المجتمع يتعامل معها القضاة والمحامون لكنها أيضاً مشكلة سيكولوجية تستلزم دراسة متعمقة من جانب كل من يهتم بدوافع السلوك الإنساني.
والدكتور رزق سند ليلة يتناول في هذا الكتاب سيكولوجية النصاب في فصول سبعة. يتناول في الفصل الأول التعريف بالموضوع وأهميته، قبل أن يبين في الفصل الثاني الإطار النظري ويحدد المفاهيم التي سيرد ذكرها، ويعرض لدراسة مقارنة للجريمة بين علم النفس والقانون الجنائي. أما الفصل الثالث فيعرض لأهم الدراسات السابقة في الموضوع سواء منها الكتابات العامة أو التخصصية العلمية التي تشمل الدراسات السيكولوجية والدراسات التي أجريت على النصابين.
وفي الفصل الرابع يحدد المؤلف منهج الدراسة وطريقة اختيار العينة في حين يعرض في الفصل الخامس نتائج الإجابة على الفرض الخاص بالذكاء والذي مؤاده: "هناك فرق له دلالة إحصائية بين ذكاء النصابين (العينة التجريبية) وبين ذكاء أفراد المجموعة الضابطة ويستعرض في الفصل السادس لتفسير النتائج التي توصل إليها الباحث من خلال الدراسة الميدانية بشقيها السيكومتري والمتعمق. أما الفصل السابع فهو محاولة لتقديم صورة تقريبية لماهية النصاب من خلال الدراسة وهي صورة ترتبط إلى حد كبير بخصائص عينة هذا البحث وأدواته والمنهج المتبع فيه.
