منذ سنوات ونحن نسمع كثيراً عن حرب بلاد القوقاز وأزمة الشيشان، وهي حرب تدور رحاها بين الجيش الروسي من جهة وبين أهل المناطق الإسلامية في روسيا ومناطق الإتحاد السوفياتي السابق.
والحقيقة أن حرب بلاد القوقاز وأزمة الشيشان لا تعود في جذورها إلى التسعينات من القرن الماضي حيث بدأت القوّات الروسية بإحتلال الشيشان (سنة 1994)، بل تعود في جذورها إلى قرون عديدة ماضية، أي منذ أن دخل الإسلام إلى تلك المناطق، وهذا ما يوضّحه المؤلّف في كتابه "تلفيق الأخبار".
ومن خلال دراسة لأزمة الشيشان نستطيع أن نفهم أزمة المسلمين عامّة في بلاد الروس.
