كيف السبيل إلى نهضة الأمة؟ أعني كيف السبيل إلى امتلاك القوة والسلطان في الدنيا بحيث نخرج من حالة المهانة والضعف تجاه "الغرب" والاستتباع له؟
لا بد من عقيدة فكرية سياسية تتبناها الأمة وتنهض بها النخبة: عقيدة تجد امتدادها التاريخي في موروثنا الروحي والفكري، وتجد انتشارها في إيمان الأمة وثقافتها، وكل طريق آخر لن يقود إلا إلى التعثر والفوضى: فالديمقراطيات الغربية التي تقوم على المبدأ النفعي تفرغ الإنسان من بعده الروحي في حين لم تفعل الماركسية إلا استعباده من خلال ممارساتها الاستبدادية. مع الإسلام فقط نصل إلى التحرر الحقيقي للإنسان من الوثنيات القديمة كما من الوثنيات المعاصرة.
في هذا الكتاب يتابع الدكتور منير الشواف سجاله ضد "فكر" محمد شحرور في مؤلفه الأخير "دراسات إسلامية في الدولة والمجتمع" مبيناً لنا تهافت هذا الفكر وتناقضاته في قراءته للإسلام كما في تنظيراته المتعلقة بالحالة الراهنة للمجتمعات الإسلامية وسبل نهضتها وتقدمها.
غير أن الدكتور الشواف يتجاوز هنا -كما فعل في كتابه السابق "تهافت القراءة المعاصرة"- الحجاج والسجال ليأخذ بأيدينا في التصدي لإشكالاتنا الحضارية والاجتماعية والسياسية والثقافية، مسترشداً بسنة الله في العمران والتاريخ: لأن مشاكل الحياة لا تنتهي، فإن الاجتهاد لا يمكن أن يتوقف حتى يرث الله الأرض ومن عليها، وإلا تعطلت الحياة وفني العمران وانقرضت الأمة.
