وأهم ما في القصّة تلك اللغة السهلة المتينة التي رغم الاستفاضة تبدو مكثّفة فلا يرغب القارئ باستثناء أي كلمة منها، والسرد التصاعدي يبدأ برسم مسرح الأحداث بشاعريّة تورّط القارئ منذ الجملة الأولى إلى أن يصل إلى الحبكة التي تحرّض الطفل وتأخذه إلى تلك العتمة حيث ينتظر الزيز الجائع أمّه، فيبحث في لاشعوره عن حل، إلى أن يخرج إلى المدينة والعيد، فيُدهَش حين يرى الزيز مرّة أخرى مُتمثّلا بطفل فقير، يشاركه بما عنده من مال ولُعَب، وتنفرج أساريره حين تطير الأرجوحة معانقة الشمس..
