"مبروك رزقتم بمولود، أجمل عبارة تزف إلى قلبيهما...بعد غياب دام تسعة أشهر...أشرقت الشمس وبزغ نور الصباح على وجهه الجميل وهو نائم بأمان في السرير. وقبل أن ينتقل من كوخه الصغير إلى البيت الكبير شرط على أبويه شروط عدة: أريد ملابس جديدة، وسرير متحرك، وألعاباً متناثرة من حولي، ونظافة أولية لي، وطعام وشراب دون مواعيد محددة. ومن الآن وصاعداً لا إطفاء لأنوار الغرفة. لبى الأبوان طلباته بكل ترحاب، وعاش الطفل بالبيت يكبر ويكبر ويكبر مضيفاً عليه جواً من الفرح والمرح والضجة والحركة والسرور على أهله. وتمضي السنين وإذا بأبيه يسحبه إلى المدرسة...وهو رافض...كالعادة، وبعد تحايلات ووعود بتلبية كل طلباته وافق الطالب. وتمضي السنين أكثر ويكبر الأبوان ويصبح الإبن الصغير المدلل شاباً يافعاً وثمرة أبويه في هذه الحياة والأمل الذي لطالما عاشا لأجله وبنيا على مشروع زواجهما. وفي يوم ما دخل الأب على إبنه في الغرفة فوجده على الأرض غائباً عن الوعي!. الدكتور: إبنك يتعاطى المخدرات. ما...ما...ماذا تقول يادكتور! أغمي على الأم مباشرة، وتم نقل الإبن إلى غرفة الإنعاش، فهو في حالة غيبوبة تامة. بقي الأب وحيداً حائراً في نفسه غير مصدق لما يجري حوله، أهو كابوس وسيمر؟ أم إبتلاء من الله فنصبر؟ مع هذه السطور يسترسل القارئ وهو يرى مشاهد حياتية، وكأنه يلمحها لأول مرة، مع أنها تأخذ حيزاً واسعاً في واقعنا المعاش، إلا أننا نتجاهلها رغم أهميتها وتأثيرها الكبير على المجتمع. إلا أن الكاتب وكأنه الطبيب يذكر الحالة ويشخصها في سبيل إيجاد الدواء الناجح لها. والكاتب إلى هذا يتناول شريحة من المجتمع، هي شريحة الشباب التي تلقي بظلال مشاكلها على كل مناحي الحياة كما على الأسر على السواء. يحاول الكاتب ومن خلال هذه الإقتباسات لعدة أمور إجتماعية ثقافية ووجدانية ومن خلال لغة الأمل التي تسود نصوصه القول بأنه ما زال هناك وسائل للنهوض بمجتمعنا ليبقى في مصاف الأمم.
