مع التغيرات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية السريعة التي تسود العالم الغربي وما يرافقها من اضطرابات جذرية في البناء التقليدي للمجتمع، ازدادت نسبة انخراط المرأة في الحياة العامة في العديد من البلدان العربية في السنوات العشر الأخيرة نتيجة جهود الحكومات المحلية لهذه البلدان، حيث أصدرت التشريعات الجديدة (قوانين أحوال شخصية وعمل) وسعت الخدمات والمساعدات الاجتماعية واستحدثت المؤسسات التعليمية لتشجيع مساهمة المرأة في عملية التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية.
غير أنه على الرغم من تلك الجهود المبذولة فإن النماذج التقليدية في المجتمع والمحددة لدور المرأة مازالت تشكل عائقاً في وجه مشاركة المرأة الفعلية في برامج التنمية الوطنية للبلاد، لذلك فإن هدف الباحث من هذه الدراسة سيتمحور حول العوامل (إيجابية كانت أو سلبية) التي تؤثر في عملية تعليم المرأة العربية عامة وفي دول الدراسة خاصة وإدماجها في عملية التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية، وتبرز دول الدراسة على الشكل التالي: لبنان، سوريا، العراق، الأردن، البحرين، الإمارات العربية، الكويت، السعودية، مصر، تونس، ليبيا، المغرب، السودان.
