هذه بضع محاضرات بالإضافة إلى بحث واحد وضعت في مناسبات مختلفة يجمع بينها خط مشترك هو الاهتمام بالشأن العربي والتوجه الوطني- القومي. فمن الصعب جداً على المستوى العربي أن يكون هناك توجه وطني سليم لا يكون في الوقت نفسه قومياً، أو توجه قومي سليم لا يكون في الوقت نفسه وطنياً. ولعل في أساس أسباب البؤس العربي الذي يشهده عصرنا الحديث لا سيما بعد الحرب العالمية الأولى، وبخاصة الثانية، هو الطلاق أو التنابذ الحاصل بين هذين التوجهين.
منذ عقود والوضع العربي في أزمة، جعلها قيام إسرائيل، وسقوط جدار برلين، وتفكك الكتلة الاشتراكية وانتهاء الحرب الباردة، أكثر تعقيداً وعمقاً. وشكلت أحداث 11 أيلول 2001 عاملاً ساهم بقوة في إبراز جوانب هذه الأزمة وزيادتها استفحالاً وحدة، كما شكلت تلك الأحداث ذريعة سهلة، وإن مأسوية، تبرر بها الولايات المتحدة الأميركية لنفسها اندفاعها في ممارسة أحاديتها المطلقة باتجاه إعادة صنع العالم على هواها ومقاس مصالحها، تحت حجة الحرب الشاملة والدائمة على الإرهاب.
في مطلق الأحوال، مهما استفحلت المشاكل والمصاعب، فغالباً ما يكون مفتاح تذليلها في أسلوب المقاربة لا في فنون المغالبة. وإذا كانت قضايانا العربية زاخرة بالتحديات، فعلينا كعرب، مهما اختلفت جنسياتنا وتعددت بلداننا، أن نشبك الأيدي ونقدح الفكر معاً حيالها، نشعر بشيء من الامتنان لوجودها، لأنها تعطي حياتنا نكهة إضافية وتستنفر عزيمتنا للمواجهة وعقولنا لاستنباط الحلول والبدائل.
