عندما سئل الطفل "آدم" والده عن وسيلة للمتعة واللهو، أهداه الأب قلم رصاص، فتعجب الطفل؟
أخذ الطفل القلم وخط به عالمه الخاص فرحاً، فرسم به كل ما جال في ذهنه من أفكار محببة (كرة قدم، حصان، عصفور، أرنب شجرة... إلخ).
ثم جلس يفكر ولكن؟: "لا شيء هنا يمكن أن يدوم إلى الأبد" ولم يكتشف الطفل مغزى الهدية، إلا عندما تعرف إلى "لولي" الصغيرة وأصبحا صديقين إلى الأبد، وعندئذٍ بعث برسالة إلى أبيه.
"أبي العزيز... أدركت الآن أنَّ الهدية الفريدة هي الصداقة، لأن الصداقة تدوم إلى الأبد.
