يحتوي هذا الكتاب الوقائع الكاملة لبحوث وتعقيبات ومناقشات ندوة "العرب وأفريقيا" وهي الندوة التي نظمها مركز دراسات الوحدة العربية بالتعاون مع منتدى الفكر العربي، وانعقدت في عمّان خلال الفترة 24-29 نيسان/أبريل 1983. وقد شارك فيها نحو ستين باحثاً من أربعة عشر بلداً عربياً وأفريقياً.
ويلحظ القارئ حرصاً كبيراً على إبراز وجهة النظر الأفريقية في الموضوعات التي طرحت في هذه الندوة، وجاء ذلك على ضوء البحث في العلاقات العربية-الأفريقية، لأنه وبحكم التاريخ وظروف الواقع ومتطلبات المستقبل. كان من الطبيعي أن يكون هذا الموضوع هو في طليعة الاهتمامات وأولوياتها لأن يطرح على بساط البحث في هذا المركز.
وقد تضمن هذا الكتاب ستة عشر فصلاً ضمن خمس محاور هي: الخلفية التاريخية، التفاعل بين الأقطار العربية والدول الأفريقية، أفريقيا والصراع العربي-الإسرائيلي، أبعاد التعاون العربي-الأفريقي، مستقبل العلاقات العربية-ا لأفريقية.
