الشعر الشعبي هو مشاعر وأحاسيس تتجسد في منهجية خاصة وأوزان خاصة، قد تختلف في أكثر الحالات عن أوزان الشعر الفصيح، وتغلب عليها النغمات الموسيقية وقد سمي بالشعر الشعبي أو الدارج أو العامي لكونه مأخوذاً من نفس اللهجات التي تتحدث بها عامة الناس أو العوام من الناس، وينبع من أحاسيس الناس، لذا فإن التجاوب معه أكثر من الشعر الفصيح، ولأنه بكلماته العامية وبرقته يداعب الأسماع فترقص النفوس خصوصاً إذا كان في الغزل ووصف الطبيعة والمدح. أما إذا كان في الرثاء فهو يلهب جمر القلوب، وتمطر الآماق بالدمع لأنه يصل إلى القلوب من أقصر الطرق وإذا كان الشعر ولائياً تتحرك له الضمائر وتلتهب المشاعر لما لأهل البيت من مكانة في القلوب. وبين يدي القارئ مجموعة من قصائدي الشعبية في قسمين، الأول: ما يخص أهل البيت مدحاً ورثاءً، ومعظمه في مدح فاطمة الزهراء عليها السلام في ذكرى ولادتها مستوحى من الحفل الفاطمي الذي نقيمه بالمناسبة زهاء 25 عاماً. والثاني: ما يخص بعض الإخوان والأصدقاء، يضاف إليه بعض الخواطر سميته مواويل في صومعة الحب.
