وقد تميزت تلك المرحلة بإفراز طبقة من الانتهازيين الذين كانوا يهللون لأية سلطة جديدة، دون أن يعرفوا إن كان المتسلطين يعملون لمصلحتهم الشخصية أن هم مجرد أداة ينفذون فقط ما يملى عليهم من الخارج.
كانت مأساة مطولة، اختلطت فيها الأوراق وتاهت الأفكار وضاعت الحقيقة التي استشهد على مذبحها آلاف الأبرياء.
هذه الفترة العصيبة من تاريخ أمتنا يحاول الكاتب أن ينقلها لنا بأمانة وصدق لا يهدف من ورائه إلا إطلاعنا على الحقبة المؤلمة. عساها أن تكون عبرة لنا ولأجيالنا القادمة.
