يمثل هذا الكتاب خلاصة خبرة المؤلف التي نافت على الثلاثين عاماً، في تدريس مادة الكيمياء لطلبة الثانوية مضافاً إلى مئات المحاضرات والدوريات المخصصة بهذا الاختصاص. وقد راعى فيه دقة التعبير، وبساطة الأسلوب، والمستوى العلمي اللائق، وجعله في سبعة فصول هي الفصل الأول: دراسة الكيمياء الحركية، الفصل الثاني: أنواع التفاعلات الكيميائية والتوازن الجزئي، الفصل الثالث: المحاليل المائية والتوازن الأيوني، الفصل الرابع: الكيمياء الحرارية، الفصل الخامس: الكيمياء الكهربائية، الفصل السادس: الكيمياء العضوية قسم الهيدروكربونات، الفصل السابع: تناول مشتقات الالكانات أو الهيدروكربونات المعوضة. وقد أشيع كل فصل بعدد من الأمثلة التي اختار معظمها من الأسئلة الوزارية كما أن كل فصل أنهاه بعدده من الأسئلة الوزارية في الغالب بغية اطلاع الطالب على مستوى الأسئلة الوزارية وأفكارها والتمرن على حلها، وأنهى الكتاب بعدد من التعاليل العامة التي تكمن أجوبتها بين ثنايا الكتاب وعلى الطالب استخراجها.
