الماكروبيتك كلمة يونانية الأصل أطلقها مؤسس هذا النظام الغذائي العلاجي وهي مكونة من مقطعين، الأول ماكرو ومعناه العظيم أو الطويل والمقطع الثاني وهو بيوتك ومعناه الحياة، وبذلك يكون المعنى العام للماكروبيتك هو حياة طويلة أو حياة عظيمة سعيدة، فكأنما أراد مؤسس هذه النظام وهو الياباني "جورج أوساوي" أن يقول بأن نظامه الغذائي سوف يجلب لمن يتبعه الحياة الطويلة السعيدة الخالية من الأمراض. وعليه فإن الماكروبيتك هو نظام غذائي معين ينصح بتناول أغذية معينة وترك أو الابتعاد عن أغذية أخرى بغتة التمتع بصحة جيدة. وقد اختار خالد التركي هذا النظام المثالي للغذاء، ليكون نظاماً غذائياً للعلاج والوقاية من أمراض السرطان. وقد سعى المؤلف إيضاح ذلك في هذا الكتاب من خلال الإجابة على تساؤلات كل مريض وراغب بمعرفة المزيد من علاج السرطان أو الوقاية منه.
قسم المؤلف الكتاب إلى أربعة فصول. الفصل الأول شرح فيه الماكروبيتك بصورة عامة مع التركيز على كيفية التحول إلى النظام الغذائي للماكروبيتك بصورة عملية وسهلة. وقد خصص المؤلف هذا الفصل للأشخاص الذين يودون الحصول على الوقاية ليس من السرطان فقط ولكن لأغلب الأمراض المزمنة المنتشرة بمجتمعاتنا الحالية بصورة تدعو إلى القلق. أما الفصول الثلاثة الباقية فقد خصصها للحديث عن السرطان بدءاً بنظرة الماكروبيتك للسرطان وأسبابه وانتهاءً بعلاجه وبصورة مفصلة وشارحاً العلاج الماكروبيتيكي لأكثر أنواع السرطان انتشاراً.
