يقدّم لنا الكتاب قدرا كبيرا من المعلومات المهمة عن بلاد الشمس، ويتحدث عنها بكثير من الحب والإعجاب والتقدير لشعبها، ولدولتها. يذكر أن الكاتب الرويلي من مواليد 1975، متزوج وله 5 أبناء. حاصل على شهادة البكالوريوس في التاريخ والحضارة الإسلامية العام 1998 من جامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية بالرياض، وشهادة الماجستير في التربية العام 2011 من جامعة جريفيث الأسترالية، ويعمل مشرفاً تربوياً بمكتب صوير التابع لإدارة التعليم بالجوف السعودية، وهو حاصل على العديد من الدورات في التاريخ والتربية والإدارة والتنمية البشرية والبرمجة العصبية.
ومما كتبه عواد الرويلي في كتابه: “في الطائرة الماليزية بدأت الرحلة. الفكر والأحلام تتراقص في مخيلتي: متى نصل إلى أستراليا، وخصوصاً أنني كنت أظن نفسي محبا للمغامرات والصعاب واكتشاف المجهول. ترى كيف ستبدو أرض الكوالا، خصوصاً أنني قرأت الكثير من الكتب والتقارير عن أستراليا الساحرة؟ وكيف يمكنني أن أريح نفسي، معتمداً على مجتمع الخواجات، أنا القادم من مجتمع مختلف الثقافة والعادات. تركت الأهل والأحباب وأمي (التي توفيت فيما بعد العام 2008-رحمها الله)، تلك الأم العظيمة ذات القلب الطيب، المحبة للإحسان إلى الفقراء والمساكين، تدعو لي في ظهر الغيب. توفيت (رحمها الله) في يوم الجمعة، وأنا بعيد عنها في أستراليا، وقد كان ذلك من أصعب المواقف التي مرّت بحياتي كلها.
كنت محملاً بالطموح والأمل والنشاط وطلب العلم، وخصوصاً أنني محبٌّ للغات، خاصة الإنجليزية، واكتشاف عادات وثقافات الشعوب الأخرى بحكم تخصصي في التاريخ والحضارة بالجامعة الأسترالية، بلد المجرمين المغامرين المسمّاة بالعالم الجديد، التي اكتشفها الكاتب جيمس كوك العام 1770. وعندما دخلت الأجواء الأسترالية ألقيت نظرة من نافذة الطائرة، وإذ بي ألمح الغابات الخضراء والأنهار التي تفصل بين أرجائها. سبحان الله! من منحها الأراضي الخضراء الطبيعية الرائعة الخلابة. كابتن الطائرة يظهر إشارة ربط الأحزمة استعداداً للهبوط بعد رحلة من ماليزيا دامت أكثر من 7 ساعات”.
