لم يشهد صدر الإسلام، ولا العصور التي تلته، امرأة بفصاحة أم المؤمنين السيدة عائشة وعلمها، فقد شهد لفصاحتها كبار الصحابة والتابعين رضي الله عنهم. فقال موسى بن طلحة: "ما رأيت أحداً أفصح من عائشة" أما علمها ومعرفتها بحديث رسول الله أمر مجمع عليه.
وفي هذا الكتاب يجمع "محمد بن القاسم الأنباري" بعضاً من الخطب التي ألقتهم السيد عائشة في مناسبات مختلفة منها خطبتا على منبر أبيها، وخطبتها حين أخبرت بمقتل عثمان، وخطبتها بيوم الجمل، وأخرى خاطبت بها الناس عندما علمت أن فئة منهم تنال من ابيها، فأبانت فيها عن مناقبه، ذاكرة محاسنه، وما كان له من سابقة في الجاهلية والإسلام، وما كان لإخضاعه المرتدة وحياطته الدين، من شأن في تثبيته وانتشاره. هذا وقد عني المحقق بالإضافة إلى تضمين النص الكامل للخطبة، بتدوين الشرح الذي كتبه الأنباري عالم اللغة على الخطبة، والذي بيّن من خلاله ما خفي من ألفاظ الخطبة وما أشكل منها.
