يكشف هذا الكتاب عن جوانب جديد في أدب سعادة وفكره، ويبرهن بروح أكاديميّ، أن سعادة أديب مهجري مُبدع، ومفكر نهضوي خلاق، وإنسان عقلاني علماني، جاهد وأفنى حياته ليبني إنساناً لا طائفياً، حياً، حراً، طموحاً، متماسكاً. ويسد الكتاب ثغرة تجاهلها النقد الأدبي، إذ يعرض لآراء سعادة في القديم والحديث وصراعهما، وفي علاقة الشعر بالحياة، وفي الأدب والالتزام، وفي الأدب وعلاقته بالأمة، وفي اللغة، والتربية، والمهاجرة، وفي غير ذلك من النقد، ونقد النقد.
ثم يحلل نماذج في إنشاء سعادة قصة أو قصيدة، ورسالة، ومذكرات، ونثراً فنياً موحياً. ويحاول تقديم بعض الكتابات عن سعادة، قارئاً مُعللاً، مستخلصاً النتائج والعبر. وعلى هذا يكون مخططّ الدراسة كما يلي: بعد مدخل إلى روحية سعادة، بدءاً بمعاناته الوطنية، مروراً بجهاده النهضوي، توصلاً إلى جوهر فكرة، يضم القسم الأول خمسة فصول هي: خليل سعادة المثال، انطوان سعادة وما وراء السياسة، انطوان سعادة القاص، انطوان سعادة ناقداً أدبياً وفنياً، سعادة والقروي. أما القسم الثاني ففصوله تنزع إلى دراسة فكر سعادة في أدبه وهي خمسة: سعادة المفكر النهضوي، والمفكر المهجري، والخطيب والأديب المبدع، والناقد المبدع، والمجتمعي الملتزم.
ولهذه الفصول الأخيرة طابع فكري فلسفي، والغاية من تقسيم الكتاب إلى قسمين هي توضيح عالم سعادة الأدبي والفكري، وهو عالم عضوي يتصل بعضه ببعض، وينطلق من منتهى الواقعية إلى منتهى الروحية دون الدخول في تفاصيل الميتافيزيقيا وهمومها. فروحية سعادة هي روحية الإنسان والحياة.
