يقع هذا الكتاب والذي جاء تحت عنوان "الجواهري شاعر التجديد والثورة" في أربعة فصول وقائمة بالمصادر والمراجع، أما الفصل الأول فقد تضمن عرضاً موجزاً لتاريخ العراق وأفكار تتعلق بحياة الشاعر محمد مهدي الجواهري العاصفة ومكانة هذا الشاعر في تاريخ الشعر العربي وتناول الفصل الثاني ظاهرة التضاد في شعر الجواهري، فالجواهري شاعر الفقراء والثورة والشهداء، حيث تتجه قصائده في معظم الحالات إلى اعتماد العناصر المتنافرة واشتباك المعاني وتقاطع الدلالات وتقابل الصور والأفكار، وفي الفصل الثالث تم التوقف عند ظاهرة الحداثة في شعر الجواهري حيث تم إبراز تقاناتها بالإضافة إلى ظاهرة التجديد المرتبطة بالحداثة ولتوضيح هذه المسألة فقد خصص عدداً من الصفحات للحديث عن تجربة الشاعرين الجواهري والسياب، اتبعت بقراءة تفصيلية لموسيقا الشعر عند الجواهري التي لا يستطيعها إلا الشاعر العبقري الذي يطمح إلى إقامة الشمولية وهذا ما جعل قصيدة الجواهري تحتفظ بشكلها القديم وفكرتها الجديدة، مما كان لا بد من التوقف عند شخصية الجواهري الثائرة وهي سمة رافقته طوال عمره نفياً وإقامة وفلسفة، أما الفصل الرابع فيضم باقة ملونة من قصائد الجواهري، اختيرت وفقاً لمعايير إبداعية وجمالية وفي موضوعات منوعة.
