في هذا الكتاب دعوة ملؤها الأمل والحب تبعث في نفوسنا إشراقة، ننظر إلى الحياة من خلالها برؤية جديدة. أراد أنطوان صياح أن يبثها في قلوبنا وفي عقولنا، إنه سؤال البحث والتفتيش الدائم عن كنة الوجود وعن سر هذا الإنسان، سيد الوجود، والذي سوف نطرحه على أنفسنا، نتعرف من خلاله إلى موقعنا في سير الإنسانية الطويل الذي نحيا فيه. يقول المؤلف: "وأنت أيها الإنسان، إبن الحياة، كيف تنظر إلى نفسك؟ هل تنظر إليها في فراداتها وتميزها؟ هل تنظر إليها في دعوتها وأزليتها؟ هل تنظر إليها في عبوديتها وتراتبيتها؟ هل تنظر إليها في ضعفها وخطأها؟ هل تنظر إليها في معنوياتها وطموحها؟ هل تنظر إليها في شكها وظنونها؟ هل تنظر إليها في ثباتها وفي إيمانها؟ هل تنظر إليها في صغرها وتفاهتها؟ هل تنظر إليها في سقطاتها وصغائرها؟ هل تنظر إليها في لذتها وفرحها؟ هل تنظر إليها في سعيها إلى الحقيقة وفي توقها إلى المطلق؟" وهذه الأسئلة العميقة سوف تجد لها جواباً شافياً في رحلة المئة يوم التي يقود شراعها مؤلف كتابنا، نتعرف من خلاله على معنى أكثر عمقاً للحياة ولأسباب وجودنا، "عسى أن تساعدنا هذه الوقفات على التمكن من عيش ملء الحياة سائرين بأصغر أعمالنا إلى أن تكون تعبيراً دائماً عن أكبر مبادئنا". أما أجمل ما جاء في هذا الكتاب فهو وصفه للسعادة، يقول دكتور صياح إنما يكمن سر السعادة في القبول بالذات كما هي في قوتها وضعفها، في طموحها وإخفاقها، في إقدامها وترددها، في نجاحاتها وسقطاتها، في توقها إلى السعادة وفي إخفاقها في الوصول إليها، قبول الذات كما هي يشكل مصدر الفرح الداخلي الحقيقي، فنحن لن نمتلك إذا سر السعادة إلا إذا غيرنا نظرتنا إلى أنفسنا وإلى غيرنا، فقبلنا نفسنا كما هي، وأقلعنا عن إشتهاء ما للآخرين وما هم عليه. إلا أن تكون القناعة سر السعادة.
