ولدت صامتاً، استمعت إلى شروح الفقيه المعقدة عن مواليد هذا الزمن المشؤوم. مولود لا يعلن عن نفسه بصرخة أو بسمة أو ضحكة، هو من الضالين. ذلك أمر لا ريب فيه. وحينما انتهى الفقيه من قراءة أوراده، امتلأ المكان بروائح دخان وهمهمات غريبة، ثم اندفع بوقفة هوجاء، أوصلته إلى فناء الدار المترب.
أحسست بنظرات أبي النارية تلسع قفاي ذات الثنايا الصغيرة، زحف أبي على ركبتيه نحو أمي، ثم التقطني من قدمي، وضربني على مؤخرتي العارية بكفه الغليظة –وصراخي لا يعلمه إلا الله- ضربات متتابعة حتى نطقت: سأكتفي بأكلة واحدة، وبإمكانك أن تفطمني قبل الأوان، وسأكبر في قماط من قميصك القديم.. أما المهد فهو زائد عن الحاجة، وسأحترم قيلولتك الطويلة، وسأظل صامتاً...
