لا يزال مبحث المتخيّل الدّينيّ حقلاً بحثيّاً خصباً لا يمكن الإرتيان فيه بالقول الفصل لتعقّد الظّاهرة الدّينيّة ولتداخلها في مجالات معرفيّة مختلفة، وإذا كانت الدّراسات الغربيّة قد أولته كبير أهميّة تنظيراً وتطبيقاً، فإنّ الدراسات العربيّة - رغم وجود بعض الأعمال الأكاديميّة الجريئة - ما زالت مقصّرة في دراسة هذه الظّاهرة، لذلك بقيت الأرضيّة المعرفيّة لهذا المبحث غير واضحة، والمفاهيم غامضة، فظلّت قطاعات رمزيّة شتّى تحتاج إلى المراجعة النّقديّة والمعرفيّة الشّاملة.
ولمّا كانت الحداثة في أبسط تعريفاتها مراجعة دائمة للفكر وآليّاته، فإننا سعينا إلى مراجعة قضيّة المعجزة في المتخيّل الإسلاميّ، وقد رأينا أنّ مقاربة نصوص المعجزات قد خضعت إمّا للمقاربة الإيمانيّة المؤكّدة للمعجزة بإعتبارها حدثاً تاريخيّاً حصل بمشيئة الله تعالى، وإمّا للمقاربة العقلانيّة الوضعيّة النّافية لكلّ خرق لنواميس الكون، فظلّ كلا الطّرحين رهين سؤال الحقيقة.
ولم يكن همّنا البحث عن صدق هذه الأخبار أو كذبها بقدر ما كان همّنا البحث عن الدّلالات والوظائف، ذلك أنّ هذه الأخبار تعكس تمثّل المسلم للعالم وتكشف عن أحلامه، ورغباته؛ ومن ثمة فإنّ المعجزة عندنا قبل أن تكون حدثاً خارقاً هي فعل لغويّ في المقام الأوّل، خوّل لنا هذا الطرح البحث في وظائف أخبار المعجزات ودلالاتها.
