لقد تناول المؤلف في كتابه هذا ثلاث آفات تعج بها النفس البشرية إن حادت عن طريق الهداية وانحرفت عن تعاليم الدين الإسلامي، فتكلم في الفصل الأول عن الحسد... والأسباب التي تؤدي إليه، ومعالجة الإسلام له، وكيف نتقيه.
وتناول في الفصل الثاني السحر وهو من الكبائر التي أوضحها الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم في حديث له قال: "واجتنبوا السبع الموبقات..." والسحر ذكرته الكتب السماوية، إلا أنه ممقوت عند جميع الأديان، وقد أراد المؤلف أن يطلع القارئ على حقيقته، فتناول بالشرح نزعة الشر عند الإنسان، ثم دافع السحر، وحقيقته وعمله ومعرفة أبطاله، وأخيراً حكم الساحر في الإسلام.
ثم انهى كتابه في التعرض للدوافع المشار إليها والتي هي من صنيع الشيطان إبليس لأنه هو الذي يقود إلى الهلاك والضلال، فكان التحذير منه، بعد وصف طرق إغوائه ومعرفتها ودراسة طرق مصايده، والنصح بالإبتعاد عن وساوسه ومكايده.
نسأل الله رب العالمين أن يقربنا من الخير وأهله ويبعدنا عن الشر وأهله أنه سميع مجيب الدعاء.
