نغوجي واثيونغو، روائي ومسرحي وكاتب قصص قصيرة، كان يوماً رئيس قسم الأدب بجامعة نايروبي، قضى فترة إعتقال دون محاكمة في سجن مشدد الحراسة، في كينيا.
يقول نغوجي: "في سنة 1977 نشرت "تويجات الدم"، وقلت وداعاً للغة الإنكليزية، واسطة لكتابة مسرحياتي ورواياتي وقصصي القصيرة، وكل كتاباتي اللاحقة كتبت مباشرة بلغة الكيكويو.
أما هذا الكتاب "تصفية إستعمار العقل" فهو جزء من نقاش مستمر على إمتداد القارة حول مصير أفريقيا، وخلاصة لبعض القضايا التي خضتها بحماسة من ممارستي القصة، والمسرح، والنقد، وتدريس الأدب.
والحق أن الكاتب ينطلق من مسألة اللغة ليراجع مجمل التجربة الأفريقية الحديثة الكتابة الإبداعية، وقد وضع اليد على الخلل المركزي في هذه التجربة، وهو خلل لغوي، محدود في ظاهره، إستعمال لغات غير أفريقية.
إلا أن الكاتب في تناوله هذا الخلل المركزي يقدم لوحةً بالغة الدقة والحماسة للحياة الثقافية الأفريقية، اليوم، مستخلصاً أن الخلل اللغوي، هو خلل علاقة، مع كل ما يتحمله التعبير من إشكالات ومشكلات.
