هذه الدروس التي ألقاها فوكو في الجامعة التونسية في منتصف الستينات. كتأويل للفلسفة الديكارتيه أو "كأركيولوجيا" وحفر في النص الديكارتي. تؤكد مرة أخرى أن الأركيولوجيا ليست تشخيصاً للحدث. بل هي أيضاً لحظة أخرى لتشخيص النص.
قد ينتهي القارئ إلى صورة أخرى لديكارت المؤول ولفوكو كمؤول وفي كل ذلك تخلص من فكرة ان النص كيان ثابت واتجه نحو النص ككائن تاريخي قابل لأن يقال بأسماء ومعان مختلفة.
فوكو القارئ لديكارت؛ معنى آخر "للفيلسوف القارئ" الذي يصعب عليه حقاً أن يتخلص من إغراء الفلسفة؛ فالكوجيتو الديكارتي يصبح وفق فوكو ذا رهانات جديدة، تعطي حياة أخرى للفلسفي.
في كل ذلك تأكيد آخر على تقويض اللغة كعلاقة معنى بين القارئ والنص وعكسياً، فاللغة هي قابلية للقول على نحو من الاختلاف.
