هذا كتاب في الفقه المالكي، سماه صاحبه (أرجوزة الولدان في الفرض والمسنون)، وهو يتضمن: فقه التوحيد، والطهارة، والصلاة، والزكاة، والحج، ولقد اقتصر صاحبه على هذه المواضيع فقط من علم الفقه دون المواضيع الأخرى لأنه كان يهدف به إلى تعريف الناس أصول دينهم وهي العبادات ومالها من أهمية في حياة الناس، إذ لا تستقيم حياتهم إلا بالعبادة.

وبحق فقد كانت أرجوزته هذه كافية لولدان المسلمين لأن يعرفوا دينهم بسهولة، ومن غير معاناة، وتعمد أن يصيغ مواضيع الكتاب قصائد شعرية من بحر الرجز ليسهل حفظ ما فيه والتغني به. إلا أن هذه الأرجوزة ومع مر الزمن أصبحت بحاجة إلى شرح وبيان حتى تعم فائدتها، وهذا ما قام به الشيخ أحمد زروق البرنسي في كتابه هذا سماه (شرح المقدمة القرطبية)، قال في مقدمته: (...فقد رأيت كثيراً منهم يحفظون المقدمة القرطبية من غير أن يعرفوا لها معان ولا وجوه خفية ولا جلية، فظهر لي أن أضع عليها تقييداً مفيداً.

وتتميماً للفائدة التي كان يرمي إليها الشيخ زروق، رأى "أحمد زقور" أن يخرج هذا الكتاب، وأن يضعه بين يدي قارئ هذا العلم وهو على صورة هي أقرب ما تكون إلى الأصل الذي تركه صاحبه أو كان يريد الوصول إليه.

والعودة لمتن عمل المحقق نجده قد قام بتقسيم الكتاب إلى قسمين: القسم الأول: قسم الدراسة: ويشمل فصلين، الفصل الأول بعنوان: العصر الذي عاش فيه الشيخ أحمد زروق.

ويشمل ثلاثة مباحث: المبحث الأول بعنوان: الحياة السياسية لعصر الشيخ زروق، والمبحث الثاني بعنوان: الحياة العلمية والفكرية لعصر الشيخ زروق، والمبحث الثالث بعنوان: ترجمة الشيخ أحمد زروق.

أما الفصل الثاني فبعنوان: تقديم الكتاب المحقق وترجمة صاحب المقدمة القرطبية، وهو يشمل مبحثين: المبحث الأول بعنوان: ترجمة الشيخ يحيى القرطبي، والمبحث الثاني بعنوان: عرض الكتاب ومنهج التحقيق.

وتتمة للفائدة فقد قام بعمل ما يلي: 1-إضافة عناوين لفصول أو فقرات لم يعنونها الشيخ زروق. 2-إضافة أرقام عند الضرورة، 3-شرح الكلمات الصعبة. 4-ذكر أدلة الأحكام أشار إليها الشارح ولم يذكرها في النص المكتوب. 5-تخريج الآيات القرآنية.6-تخريج الأحاديث النبوية. 7-ترجمة وتوضيح بعض الأسماء المذكورة في النص أو الشرح أو الملحقات. 8-فهارس للآيات والأحاديث والأبيات الشعرية والأعلام والأماكن والكتب التي في النص ثم فهرس المراجع والمصادر، والمواضيع.
