عبد العزيز صالح المَقالِح (1937 -)، أديب وشاعر وناقد يمني، ولد عام 1937 في قرية المقالح في محافظة إب وهو رئيس المجمع العلمي اللغوي اليمني. ويُعد في مقدمة شعراء اليمن المعاصرين، وأحد أبرز الشعراء العرب في العصر الحديث.
درس على مجموعة من العلماء والأدباء في مدينة صنعاء، تخرج من دار المعلمين في صنعاء عام 1960، وواصل تحصيله العلمي حتى حصل على الشهادة الجامعية عام 1970، في عام 1973 حصل درجة الماجستير في اللغة العربية وآدابها من كلية الآداب جامعة عين شمس ثم درجة الدكتوراه عام 1977 من نفس الجامعة، وترقى إلى الأستاذية عام 1987. تميزت كتابته بشيء من الكلاسيكية، لكنها سرعان ما انفتحت على الحداثة. عرف عنه كتابته لقصيدة أن يحرمونا يا حبيب الغرام وتغنى بها الفنان اليمني أحمد فتحي.

في هذه الأوراق رصد عفوي لجانب من قراءاتي التاريخية المصحوبة بقدر من الملاحظات والمناقشات لبعض الوقائع والأحداث التي عرفتها اليمن ابتداء من سنوات تكوين الثورة في الثلاثينات إلى تفجير أول حدث هز جزيرة العرب وأيقظ ملايينها التي كان آخر عهدها باليقظة الحقيقية مع الانحسار الأول لظلال الدولة العربية، وقبل أن يبدأ عهد الدويلات اللامركزية في استيعاب الانفصال واستنشاق دخانه الفاسد.
وسوف يلاحظ القارئ أن وقائع التاريخ الحديث بهذه البلاد شديدة التعقيد على بساطتها، وأنها قد اكتسبت ملامح هذا التعقيد من أسباب عديدة أهمها العزلة الشديدة التي غرقت فيها اليمن قديماً، ثم غياب الرصد التاريخي للمرحلة الحديثة رصداً موضوعياً وتدوين الأحداث في حينها بأقلام أمنية أو محايدة غير تابعة لسلطة. ومن هنا فإن جيل المؤرخون الشباب سيبدأون رحلة طويلة قبل أن يكتشفوا الحقائق الموضوعية وتكون أحكامهم أكثر دقة وصواباً.
