يمكن قراءة ديوان الشاعر محمد مخزوم (دعوات امرأة) على أنه حالة خاصة وعامة، وحب ورثاء بنفس الوقت، ففي القصيدة التي يفتتح بها الديوان بمهد الشاعر للحديث عن حدث جلل "إلى تلك الروح التي فارقت جسد أختي مفضلة العيش هنا في داخلي.../ إلى الحرف الجميل الذي/ إذا مشى على فمي تثاءبت لماي شعراً(...)/ اختي بنى الله لها بالتبر في الأحداث قصراً...". بعد ذلك يخرج الشاعر من حزنه ليجد سلواه في حب آخر هو حب الله "ما لي/ أشعر أن الجرح تبخر أصبح ماضٍ/ أشعر أن الله كثيراً عني راضٍ/ أشعر أن الحب تبسم في وجهي بسمته الكبرى (...)". بهذا الخطاب الشعري يميل الشاعر إلى استحضار الذات بهمومها الخاصة، وإعلاء قيمة الألم الخاص، وطرحه كثيمة شعرية تتصدر أغلب النصوص، كما أنه يتفنن في كتابه الذات/ الشاعرة بعواطفها المشمولة بالحب والحنين والألم، والفرح والحب، إلى غير ذلك من مشاعر خاصة تعتري الكائن في رحلته الممتدة حتى النفس الأخير.
جميع تلك المعاني استدعى لها الشاعر بنية لغوية مختارة، مشحونة بالحنين والماضي والذكريات، ومجاهرة بالداخل موظفة الـ (أنا) في بث رسائل الذات إلى المتلقي.
يضم الديوان (31) قصيدة نثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "أحبَ الله فيك"، "أرجعي لي واتركيه"، "إعتذار من لعب"، "إفتراء"، "اللفافة الأخيرة" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
