يعتبر الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر من أهم مصادر التمويل الخارجي في الوقت الحاضر، نتيجة للمزايا العديدة الناجمة عنه. مثل: توفير رؤوس الأموال، والتقنية العالية والخبرة الفنية، والإدارية، ورفع كفاءة المنتجات المحلية، وما ينشأ عن ذلك من زيادة إمكانية دخولها إلى الأسواق العالمية وبمنافسة عالية.
لذلك اتجهت دول العالم المتقدمة منها والنامية في محاولة اجتذاب هذه الاستثمارات إلى أراضيها، بهدف تحقيق تلك المميزات والإفادة منها في خدمة اقتصادياتها الوطنية.
وقد كان للدول الإسلامية دور بارز في هذه العملية، خصوصاً بعد ارتفاع حجم الديون الخارجية إلى مستويات عالية نتيجة لاتجاه تلك الدول إلى التمويل الخارجي بأنواعه المختلفة، من أجل سد اتساع الفجوة بين مواردها المحلية واحتياجاتها التنموية، والذي أدى إلى عجز العديد من هذه الدول عن الاستمرار في سداد هذه الأعباء. في ذات الوقت الذي تناقصت فيه حصص المنح الأجنبية بسبب الظروف الاقتصادية العالمية.
لذلك ازدادت الأهمية النسبية للاستثمارات الأجنبية المباشرة، مما أدى إلى انتهاج الدول الإسلامية لسياسات اقتصادية كان من شأنها زيادة تدفقات الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر إليها، وإن كان بمعدلات متواضعة.
وتكمن أهمية هذا البحث في إبراز حجم تدفقات الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر إلى الدول الإسلامية، بالإضافة إلى مجموعة أرباحه المحمولة إلى الخارج جراء الاستثمار في تلك الدول. واستعراض آثاره الإيجابية والسلبية على اقتصاديات هذه الدول، ومن ثم بيان وجهة النظر الشرعية للاقتصاد الإسلامي بالنسبة لهذه النشاطات الأجنبية في الدول الإسلامية.
ذلك كله تم الحديث عنه عبر اعتماد الباحث لأسلوب الدراسة النظرية في الفصل الأول من هذه الدراسة. بهدف بيان مفهوم الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر وأهميته ومحدداته. كما وسعى الباحث إلى توثيق الآيات القرآنية التي استشهد بها وفهرسها بحسب التسلسل الأبجدي، إلى جانب هذا قام بتوثيق الأحاديث النبوية من مصادرها الأصلية وفهرسها هجائياً.
