وكان ممن اهتم بهذا الكتاب "الشيخ أبو الحسين أحمد بن فارس" الذي عني به عناية بالغة، حيث عول على أشعاره فيما ذكره في معجماته وكتبه الأخرى. وفي خضم هذا الاهتمام وضع ابن فارس شرحاً لغوياً لم يتبق منه إلا هذا الجزء الذي نقلب صفحاته والذي هو موجه لجميع المعنيين بهذا الجانب من جواب الدرس العربي في الأدب واللغة. وهذا وقد جاء الكتاب محققاً.
