الصلاة في الإسلام هي صلة الإنسان بربه، وهذه الصلة تعني صدق التوجه والإخلاص التام لله عز وجل، وتعني الإقرار الأكيد بوحدانيته والخضوع والتذلل له سبحانه، والالتزام الكامل بأوامره و نواهيه. والصلاة في الإسلام تعني خالص الشكر لله عز وجل، على نعمه التي لاتعد ولا تحصى، وتعني المصفاة الحقيقية للنفس البشرية، مما علق أو يعلق بها من ذنوب وآثام في نهار الإنسان وليله، وهي الناهية له عن الفحشاء والمنكر. فإذا كانت مشكلة المسلمين أن الكثيرين منهم لايصلون، فإن مشكلة المصلين منهم أنهم لا يجدون في صلاتهم الخشوع المطلوب، وكم ضعف هذا الاقبال من قبل أمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، فأصبحوا يؤدون هذه الطاعات دون أن ينتبهوا لصفة الخشوع. حتى أصبحت خالية من معنى العبادة واقرب إلى العادة، فالخشوع ثمرة العبادة الحقيقية، وهي ثمرة أيضا من ثمرات العلم بالله وكتابه الحكيم لقوله تعالى: (إن الذين أوتوا العلم من قبله إذا يتلى عليهم يخرون للأذقان سجدا). يبين الكاتب النية في العبادات و تأثير الخشوع على النفس الإنسانية وأهمية الخشوع في الصلاة وحكمه والعوامل التي تساعد على الخشوع من إخلاص القلب لله تعالى، ومعرفة الله واستحضار عظمته وأن الصلاة لقاء مع الله و مناجاة معه، وأنه يجب الابتعاد عن التفات القلب، وأداء الصلاة على وقتها، والالتزام بصلاة الجماعة.
