يعتبر تفسير"فتح القديرللشوكاني" أصلاً من أصول التفسير، ومرجعاً من مراجعه لأنه جمع بين التفسير بالرواية والتفسير بالدراية، حيث أجاد فيه مؤلفه في باب الدراية، وتوسع في باب الدراية. شرع مؤلفه فيه في شهر ربيع الآخر من سنة 1223 ه، واعتمد في تفسيره على أبي جعفر النحاس، وابن عطية الدمشقي، وابن عطية الأندلسي، والقرطبي، والزمخشري وغيرهم.
